SUMMARY:Alex's Lemonade Stand
DESCRIPTION:Native Sons and Daughters is once again teaming up with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation to raise money for pediatric cancer research. Alex’s Lemonade Stand will be held Saturday\, May 7 at Publix locations across the city. We will pass out cans of lemonade donated by Publix and hope that those receiving their lemonade will be moved to donate to ALSF. Publix locations will be chosen by your tribe’s chief based on coup points. The Native Sons and Daughters program needs its members to lend a hand on Saturday May 7 to make this event successful. Let’s work together to make this year’s event the best ever! Tribes will be notified this month regarding which Publix store will host their lemonade stand. Your tribe will be in charge of running the event at that store\, including picking up necessary event materials\, cleaning up after the lemonade stand\, and returning all monies collected to event leader immediately following the end of the fundraiser. \nAlexandra “Alex” Scott was born to Liz and Jay Scott in Manchester\, Connecticut on January 18\, 1996\, the second of four children. Shortly before her first birthday\, Alex was diagnosed with neuroblastoma\, a type of childhood cancer. \nOn her first birthday\, the doctors informed Alex’s parents that if she beat her cancer it was doubtful that she would ever walk again. Just two weeks later\, Alex slightly moved her leg at her parents’ request to kick. This was the first indication of who she would turn out to be – a determined\, courageous\, confident and inspiring child with big dreams and big accomplishments. \nBy her second birthday\, Alex was crawling and able to stand up with leg braces. She worked hard to gain strength and to learn how to walk. She appeared to be beating the odds\, until the shattering discovery within the next year that her tumors had started growing again. In the year 2000\, the day after her fourth birthday\, Alex received a stem cell transplant and informed her mother\, “when I get out of the hospital I want to have a lemonade stand.” She said she wanted to give the money to doctors to allow them to “help other kids\, like they helped me.” True to her word\, she held her first lemonade stand later that year with the help of her older brother and raised an amazing $2\,000 for “her hospital.” \nWhile bravely battling her own cancer\, Alex and her family continued to hold yearly lemonade stands in her front yard to benefit childhood cancer research. News spread of the remarkable sick child dedicated to helping other sick children. People from all over the world\, moved by her story\, held their own lemonade stands and donated the proceeds to Alex and her cause. \nIn August of 2004\, Alex passed away at the age of 8\, knowing that\, with the help of others\, she had raised more than $1 million to help find a cure for the disease that took her life. Alex’s family – including brothers Patrick\, Eddie\, and Joey – and supporters around the world are committed to continuing her inspiring legacy through Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. \nEvent Date/Time: May 7\, 2016 2:00 – 6:00 PM \nEvent Location: At your neighborhood Publix

SUMMARY:Alex's Lemonade Stand
DESCRIPTION:Native Sons and Daughters is once again teaming up with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation to raise money for pediatric cancer research. Alex’s Lemonade Stand will be held Saturday\, May 9 at Publix locations across the city. We will pass out cans of lemonade donated by Publix and hope that those receiving their lemonade will be moved to donate to ALSF. Publix locations will be chosen by your tribe’s chief based on coup points. The Native Sons and Daughters program needs its members to lend a hand on Saturday May 9 to make this event successful. \nEvent Date/Time: May 9\, 2015 2:00 – 6:00 PM \nEvent Location: At your neighborhood Publix

SUMMARY:Jax Cracker Race
DESCRIPTION:UPDATES:\nBig How Mighty Timucuan Federation! \nThe time has come for our Annual Jax Cracker 500 Race. The track will be open Wed thru Friday of this week for Open Practice from 4pm – 9pm at the Classic Lighting Warehouse. There are no assigned track monitors\, so please do not let the little braves and princesses bump into the track as the optics are very sensitive and can be knocked out of alignment. This will cause the clock not to work. Be very cautious\, please! Control the kids if they will be up in the warehouse and around the track. \nIt is recommended to take a flashlight with you if you go up after dark just in case the lights haven’t been turned on yet. Instructions for turning on the lights are located next to the main breaker box adjacent to the warehouse bathrooms. The man door by the dumpster will be open along with the rollup doors in the warehouse. If you are last out\, turn out the lights and make sure the doors are closed. \nFor the day of the event\, please bring chairs this year. We will not be able to have any bleachers set up due to pallets not being available. \nWe have a VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY for this event. We need help with set up\, break down\, and administering the race as it is being run. If you can help\, please reply by email or phone. \nRace Day Check In Times \n9:00am-9:30am Check in Algonquin/Apache \n9:30am-10:30am Race Starts Algonquin/Apache \n10:00am-10:30am Check in Shoshone/Sioux \n10:30am-11:30am Race Starts Shoshone/Sioux \n11:00am-11:30am Check in Seminole/Pathfinder \n11:30am-12:30pm Race Starts Seminole/Pathfinder \n12:30pm-1:30pm Final Runs/ Federation Champion Race and Trophy Presentation \nGood Luck Racers! \nBlue Fox\n904-333-3004 \n\nGentlemen\, start your engines!!! Get ready for what is probably the most electrifying and exciting federation event of the year. The time for the Annual Jax Cracker Race is at hand. This is our third year running the smaller racer\, and based on the last two years’ results\, the field is wide open and we should expect a lot of competitive racing from throughout the Federation\, rookies included. So sign up now to give you and your Native Son or Daughter plenty of time to prepare for the greatest race in Jacksonville! \nAwards will be given out for “best in show” and “fastest racer”. Preference will be given for cars that are kid creations. When signing up\, the charge is 18.00 per race car. Dads do not need to pay\, just pay per child. Updated Jax Cracker Rules of the Race can be found under the “Resources” tab of our website. \nWe will be doing two car distributions. The first distribution date will be announced shortly when the shipment arrives. The second distribution will occur at January’s Fed meeting.
