SUMMARY:Holiday Skate and Toy Drive
DESCRIPTION:Big How Timucuan Federation: \nOut of an abundance of caution the Fed Council has decided that the safest course of action is to cancel the skating portion of the Holiday Skating event but continue to hold the Toys for Tots toy drive. \nWith all of the ongoing COVID issues in the greater Jacksonville area Toys for Tots needs our help more than ever. On December 6 Storm Cloud and Red Bear will be in the parking lot of the Skate Station at 3461 Kori Rd Jacksonville FL 32257 between 3 and 5 PM to collect your new unwrapped toys. In order to minimize the number of people that are there at any given time we are asking that the boys drop off their donations between 3 and 4 PM and the girls drop off their donations between 4 and 5 PM. As an added incentive to donate each member who makes a donation will be rewarded with a community service credit towards their 2020-2021 OWB award.

SUMMARY:Fall Longhouse
DESCRIPTION:The Beaver Moon in November is named for the beavers which at this time of the year\nbecome particularly active building their winter dams in preparation for the cold season.\nNovember’s full Moon was traditionally called the Beaver Moon by a number of Native\nAmericans and colonial Americans. Many Native American groups used the monthly\nMoons and nature’s corresponding signs as a calendar to track the seasons.\nWhy the “Beaver” Moon? This is the time of year when beavers begin to take shelter in\ntheir lodges\, having laid up sufficient stores of food for the long winter ahead. During the\ntime of the fur trade in North America\, it was also the season to trap beavers for their\nthick\, winter-ready pelts.  Be sure to keep an eye out for the Last Quarter Moon:\nNovember 8th.\n\nIn a year of many firsts\, we’ll be adding two more.\n1) We will be combining the girls and boys fall longhouses into a single event.\n2) We’ll be going somewhere new: YMCA Camp Winona. To accommodate as many\nfamilies’ needs as possible\, we’ll have the option to camp in tents\, RVs\, or small\nbunkhouse-style cabins.\nActivities for the Fall Longhouse include:\n\n Lake Swimming with a Blob\nEgg Toss\nPhoto Scavenger Hunt\nBB Gun & Archery Ranges\nFloat across the campground on the mighty Zip Line!\nBig Red’s Famous Critter Race\nThe War Chief will be setting up an outdoor screen to broadcast the FL-GA Battle\nSacred Fire will include both Acorn & Breaking Arrow Ceremonies\n\nDate: November 6-8\, 2020\nVenue: Camp Winona Branch YMCA\nAddress: 898 Camp Winona Rd\, De Leon Springs\, FL 32130\nFall Longhouse Cabin – $40.00 / Person\nFall Longhouse RV Site – $40.00 / Person\nFall Longhouse Tent Camping – $35.00 / Person\nCamp Map – RV Sites – (Our Cabins will be in the boys village\, everything is an easy walk to get to) \nLonghouse Schedule \nBIG HOW!\n– Chief Lion Heart

SUMMARY:Join Your Fed Council - Vacant Positions
DESCRIPTION:  \nAll of us on the Fed Council are volunteers.  Our program doesn’t exist without volunteers.  These are important positions that have to be filled or our program will suffer.  We’re all busy and we’ve all felt the desire to give back some of what this program has given us.  If you feel the same way\, or have questions about what all is involved\, just ask Red Bear or any Fed Council member. \nCurrent Vacancies \n\nWampum Bearer (Treasurer). Current Wampum\, Tar Heel\, has fulfilled his duty and has done an amazing job of streamlining the transactions and keeping track of our war chest.  The next Wampum will have an easy transition and will have Tar Heel to consult and help with this very important position.\nWar Chief.  Current War Chief\, Storm Cloud\, is moving up the corporate ladder to Medicine Man.  We need someone with a truck to be able to haul the trailer with all the games\, and activities to events like longhouses\, citywide\, family camp out.\nShoshone Nation Chief.  Current Chief may take over as War Chief if we can find a Shoshone Chief.  This person will communicate with the five Tribe Chiefs of the Shoshone Nation and will partner with the Sioux Chief to plan and execute the girls’ longhouses.\nService Project Chief.  We currently don’t have this position filled which is why we don’t do very many service projects as a Longhouse.\nSmoke Signals Chief.  We currently don’t have this position filled either which is why we don’t have very much information published about us.\n\n***BONUS\, you and your child get to dress for the Sacred Fires for life*** \n***and Coup Points for every meeting you attend*** \n  \n
